Better Choice of Living (BCOL), To Host Annual Black-Tie Ball
Free Admission for Sponsored Senior Citizens (65+)
Limited Seating, Reservations Required!
Better Choice of Living (BCOL) celebrates its 10th Annual Black-Tie Ball on May 19, 2012, at the Quality Inn, 3905 Wilma Rudolph Blvd, Clarksville, TN. This momentous occasion begins with a Social Hour from 5-6pm. Dinner is served at 6pm with live entertainment. Dance to start at approximately 7:30pm featuring The BCOL Band. Tickets for this event are $40.00 per person and BCOL Members are $35.00. As a community recognition, all senior citizens (65 plus) are admitted to the dinner/dance without charge, depending on the number of sponsors and the amount of donations received. Deadline for reservations is May 12th. Arrangements have been made for attending guests and senior citizen honorees to spend the evening at the Quality Inn at a special rate of $71.20. Honor your senior citizens May 19th by sending or bringing them to the Better Choice of Living Black-Tie Ball, to dine and dance in style and in dignity. Donations of any amount are welcome to sponsor seniors. This year sponsors are Family Properties and New Focus Studio. The evening festivities will include “local talents” with performances by MuriAnita Andrews and Brenda White; and a special performance by Mrs. Servella Lee Terry, an original Ohio Player.
The BCOL Band
The BCOL Band consists of Marty Montgomery, James P. Witherspoon (saxophone); Alonzo “Al” Haralson (trumpet); John Ford (bass guitar); Jason Crofton (drums); and Shiba Palmer (lead vocals).
Marty Montgomery, saxophonist, is an American Music Award winner, and a Grammy Awards nominated horn player. He has made three world tours, and performed with Motown Artists including The Supremes, The Temptations, and Marvin Gaye. James P. Witherspoon, saxophonist and lead singer, has performed with the legendary Bobby Blue Bland, hit makers Sam and Dave, and the late great Johnny Guitar Watson. Alonzo Haralson, trumpeter, as part of the group CJ and Company was nominated for a Grammy Award. Haralson has played professionally since he was five years old and has performed with Aretha Franklin at New York’s Carnegie Hall. John Ford, bass guitar lead and background vocals, has been making music for more than 30 years working at studio sessions and playing live gigs. He is a master guitarist and a premier vocalist. Jason Crofton, drums and lead/background vocals, began playing drums at the age of nine. He became a full time drummer by the age of 12 when he began playing with several local bands in and around Detroit. Shiba Palmer, lead vocals, combines R&B, Jazz, Blues and Rock into a soulful blend of captivating sound. Her big voice has taken her to Philadelphia’s Neo-Soul & House Music Circuits and Detroit & Germany’s jazz scenes.
Bring your parents, grandparents, and other loved ones for an evening of fine dining, dancing, and royal treatment! They deserve it. Reservations made on a first come first serve basis. To ensure that the memories of this wonderful affair are preserved throughout the "Golden Years”, a professional photographer will be on hand from 5pm to closing. Better Choice of Living, a non-profit 501 c 3 charitable organization, is dedicated to empowering lives through motivation and providing the tools and resources to improve lives by facilitating better choices. BCOL's goal is to provide meaningful and helpful programs for seniors, youth, and disabled citizens in areas where resources or assistance may be limited.
